Farmer : Steve Florin

For Steve Florin of Dancing Bear Farm, farming is a third career. Having grown up in the Chicago area and earning a degree in environmental engineering, Steve spent five years working for the EPA in the Midwest. In 1980, he moved to Southern Oregon, where he and his wife Patricia raised their three children. They bought property in Williams seven years ago, but have been living in Ashland until last summer when they moved to the farm. Steve continues to work his day job as a hospital laboratory technician to keep the farm going. This spring, he, Patricia and Haley moved into their new strawbale house. Steve loves to grow vegetables with a flourish- aromatic fennel, orange tomatoes and purple beans.
